But, more than anything, it was a night to remember for West Linn-Wilsonville's retiring staff.  In total, 17 staff members from throughout the district were honored at the Al Kadar Shrine Center in Wilsonville Thursday, May 18, as teachers and administrators joined together to celebrate their colleagues' careers. • G.E.A.R.S. All Girls Robotic Team Takes 1st Place at World Championships

Posted by Kelly Douglas at 5/23/2017

WLWV's all girls robotic team, G.E.A.R.S. (Girls Engineering and Robotics Superstars) recently participated in the Oregon Technology Awards held at the Portland Convention Center. The awards honor the top technology professionals and organizations in the region and G.E.A.R.S. was invited as a special guest to present the awards to each recipient.
Last month G.E.A.R.S. won 1st place at the First Lego League World Championships in Houston for the Innovative Solution award category.  They invented the 'Smart Rider System' (SRS) which is designed to help improve the way riders with disabilities interact with horses via a customizable hands-free reign device.  It allows people with disabilities to ride horses more independently by connecting to an app allowing riders to steer the horse with either the app or voice commands. In addition, G.E.A.R.S. took 16th place for their robot performance and had a wonderful time meeting teams from around the world.

Superintendent's Message
Greetings West Linn-Wilsonville School Community -

Saludos comunidad escolar de West Linn-Wilsonville,

Dr. Kathy Ludwig

                  May 5, 2017
The sunshine and warmer temperature certainly lift the spirits and draw us to the natural beauty of Oregon and the many outdoor activities our students participate in during these spring months.  There is much to enjoy and celebrate with our students: Congratulations to the Inza R. Wood Middle School Mock Congressional Team for placing third in the nation! Congratulations to West Linn High School and Wilsonville High School for ranking 2nd and 4th respectively in the state as highest performing high schools (US News & World Report).  Stunning art exhibits, OBOB accomplishments, spring athletics and music concerts highlight other ways our students are excelling as their teachers, coaches and parents create the conditions for them to thrive.[Full Message - Mensaje Completo]
