Over the past few weeks, our school has been filled with numerous examples of why Willamette is such a special place. From our Rhythms Program to Read to Us Week to the Battle of the Books to our Science Fair, these memorable experiences help support each child to flourish. Within our classrooms, each and every day, I am inspired by the learning your children are engaged in, as well as how they talk about their learning. As a 5th grade student recently told me after completing a series of projects: “I learned that when I put effort in, I can do anything.” Building this belief students have in their own self-efficacy goes hand in hand with their academic achievement. Teaching our children about how to learn, in conjunction with what we learn, builds this belief students have in themselves. Across our school, from kindergarten to fifth grade, our students are learning not just about the world around them, but about who they are and can be.
